Rita F. Bertino



Rita F. Bertino (nee Valentino), 97, of Hammonton died on Friday, February 5, 2021 at Jefferson Hospital in Washington Twp., N.J. surrounded by her family.


Rita was very active in the St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Parish-St. Joseph Church as a member of the Altar Rosary Society and St. Rita Society. She worked in the rectory for 14 years and enjoyed volunteering in the religious articles stand during the Our Lady of Mount Carmel Festival in Hammonton. She also previously worked for Curtis Publishing Company and the Modern Clothing Company.


She is predeceased by her husband, Anthony F. Bertino, Sr.; her mother, Carmela “Millie” Valentino (nee Capasso); her two brothers, Bill and Richard Valentino; and her sister, Marion Giberson.


Surviving are her son, Anthony F. Bertino Jr.; her daughter-in-law, Dawn Bertino (nee Christinzio); her two grandchildren, Michael and Johnny Bertino; and her sister, Jeanne Tratta (Robert). She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.


Family and friends are invited to attend her viewing on February 11, 2021 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Marinella Funeral Home, 102 N. Third St. Hammonton, NJ 08037. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 a.m. at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Parish-St. Joseph Church. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery, 500 White Horse Pike, Hammonton, NJ 08037. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Rita’s memory to St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Parish-St. Joseph Church, 226 French St, Hammonton, NJ 08037.
