During the past several weeks, The Gazette has presented a series about area communities’ mayors on our front page. So far, Mullica Mayor Kristi Hanselmann, Folsom Mayor Greg Schenker and Vineland Mayor Anthony Fanucci have been profiled.
The response to the series has been excellent. People want to know what mayors in other towns are doing, what their leadership styles are and how the municipalities are responding to each mayor’s leadership.
These articles are being read by people in the communities served by the mayors we have interviewed as well. The reaction to seeing their top elected officials being profiled on the front page of a newspaper that serves other communities as well as theirs has been extremely positive.
Municipalities in New Jersey face many of the same issues. The response to those issues, however, differs from community to community. Each mayor is reflective of the municipality he or she serves. Each of those municipalities have their own unique character.
What can readers of The Gazette learn from the series on area mayors? In addition to the biographical information on each mayor, there are also examples of the successes and challenges from each community in each mayoral profile we have run or will run. Readers who read the entire series about all the mayors will have a better understanding of our surrounding communities and their leaders.
