Three Devils headed to MOC

TOMS RIVER—A trio of Hammonton High School athletes are headed to the indoor Meet of Champions after earning medals at the State Group 3 championships on February 17 at the Bennett Center.


Aaron Mull, Anthony Liakhnovich and Jayden Smith each placed in the top three in their respective events, earning berths at the Meet of Champions on March 3.


Mull, a senior sprinter, added to an already impressive winter season by earning a silver medal in the 55-meter dash.


Hammonton’s school record-holder in the event, Mull posted a time of 6.59 in the preliminaries, then trimmed that time to 6.57 in the finals.


Liakhnovich earned his trip to the Meet of Champions in the shot put, where he won silver with a throw of 56-feet, 5-inches.


Smith, a senior, placed third in the high jump, clearing 6-feet, 2-inches.


Christian Medina also competed in shot put for Hammonton, and his throw of 47-feet, 9.25-inches was good for eighth place.


Hammonton’s 4x400 relay team of Mull, Aaron Lasasso, CJ Handy and Lucas Iuliucci posted a time of 3:37.16, their best of the season.


For Hammonton’s girls, Mitra Sampson had a throw of 33-feet, 0.75-inches in shot put, placing 12th, while senior Juliana Dogostino competed in high jump for the Blue Devils.
