NORTHFIELD—Hammonton Little League’s 8/9/10-year-old All-Star team won the District 16 championship on July 13, defeating Upper Twp./Ocean City 6-2 in the final game of the double-elimination tournament.

Colton Robinson opened the game on the mound for Hammonton and earned the win, pitching four strong innings. Brayden Bendig tossed two scoreless innings of relief to close out the victory.

At the plate, Colin Peeke had a two-run double and finished the game with three RBIs.

The win allows the All-Stars to advance to the Section 4 tournament, which began earlier this week.

Junior League Softball

Hammonton’s Junior League (13/14-year-old) softball team was ousted from the Section 4 tournament last week.

The District 16 champion, Hammonton opened the double-elimination tournament with a 17-7 win against Barrington. The All-Stars then lost 9-8 to Pennsville, the eventual sectional champion.

Needing a win to remain in the tournament, Hammonton lost to Franklin Twp. 12-2.
