Jean D. Berry



Jean D. Berry, 91, passed away on Sunday, October 10, 2021 at The Samaritan Center Voorhees.


Jean was born in Rosedale, N.J., raised in Hammonton and graduated Hammonton High School Class of 1947. Jean went on to graduate from the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing in 1951 and enjoyed her 41-year nursing career working in Philadelphia, New York City and Atlantic City; she retired from the American Red Cross Penn Jersey Region. Jean was a member of the Alumnae Association of the School of Nursing of the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, Pennsylvania Horticultural Society, volunteered at the annual Philadelphia Flower Show for 30 years, member of Beta Sigma Phi International Sorority, former member of the Historical Society of Hammonton, former member and Treasurer of the Board of Trustees of the First United Methodist Church of Hammonton and current member of the Haddonfield United Methodist Church.


Jean is predeceased by her parents, Arthur M. Berry Sr. and Edith C. Berry; her sister, Mary E. Berry; her brother, Arthur M. Berry Jr.; sister-in-law, Eleanor F. Berry; and nephew, Bruce D. Berry. Jean is survived by her nieces and their husbands, Donna L. Berry (Kim Smith), Barbara A. Berry (Michael Erwin) and great-niece Heather Miller (Rick Miller) and their daughter Kristi Miller.


A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, October 15, 2021 at Greenmount Cemetery, Hammonton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jean’s memory to the American Red Cross PO Box 37839, Boone, IA 50037-0839 or to the Haddonfield United Methodist Church, 29 Warwick Road, Haddonfield, NJ 08033.
