Michael “Bootie” J. DiMeo Sr.,92, of Hammonton, N.J. passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, April 23, 2022.
Bootie was born in Hammonton, graduated from Hammonton High School in 1947 and served in the U.S Army from 1955 – 1956. He joined the family business and held the title of President of Indian Brand Farms for over 50 years. He was a member of the NJ Farm Bureau and North American Blueberry Council.
Mike was a natural farmer who dedicated his life to the earth. His passion for the Blueberry Farm was the envy to all. The farm was not “work” for Mike—it was his passion. His favorite “toys” were his bulldozer and backhoe. I have a feeling Fats Domino had Mike in mind when he recorded “Blueberry Hill.” During his lifetime Mike could always be counted on to help anyone in need. For better or worse others came first. When Mike did rarely leave the farm, it was for snowmobiling and hunting.
He is predeceased by his parents, Frank and Josephine (nee Monzo); and his wife, Phyllis (nee DiGiacomo).
He is survived by his children, JoAnn DiLolle of Williamstown, N.J., Michelle DiMeo,
Michael J. DiMeo Jr., John DiMeo and Sharon Italiano (Frank); sister, Anna Mortellite; and brothers, Frank and Bill DiMeo all of Hammonton, N.J.
He will be sadly missed by his loving grandchildren, Toni Lynn Ayers, Michael J. DiMeo III, Ariel and Nicholas Melhado and Joey and Brayden Templeton as well as his great-grandchildren, Nina, Nicholas and Frank Italiano, Luciana and Luca Ayers and Logan and Raleigh Farinelle.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing Thursday, April 28, 2022 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Calvary Chapel Church 600 S. Egg Harbor Rd. Hammonton, N.J. Services will be held at 7 p.m. Burial will be held Friday, April 29, 2022 at noon at Oak Grove Cemetery 500 N. White Horse Pike Hammonton, N.J.
