THIS WEEK:Hammonton Hot Shots--Shots win twice to take over sole possession of firstplace in the South Jersey South Shore Baseball League. Hammonton openedthe week with a 7-5 win at Galloway and ended by beating EggHarbor Twp. 2-0. Rallied for three runs in the top of theseventh to beat Galloway. Matt McAleer with a pair of hits and John andZach Newman played big roles in the win. Against EHT, Jon Gonzalezblasted a solo homer run that sealed a close game. John Kasperwith the win. Busy week for the Shots, who played Buena on Monday, at SomersPoint Tuesday and will host Ocean City Wednesday and Egg Harbor City onThursday. Meet of Champions--Hammonton’s MitraSampson, a freshman, placed 11th in the shot put at the Meet of Championslast week. Her mark was 36-10.25. Emma Peretti couldn’tcompete because weather postponed the meet until Thursday when HHS hadits graduation ceremony. Also for the Blue Devils,Jules Dogostino was 19th in the javelin at Nationals in theRising Stars Division. Little League--Hammonton All-Star teams beganDistrict 16 play last week. Action continues this week with a few games atHammonton Lake Park.Hammonton Hawks--Hawks begin another Flag Footballseason at Hammonton Middle School. Games are Monday and Wednesday.INTERVIEW: HHS Baseball players Drew Haines and Matt McAleer. IN NATIONALSPORTS: Phillies—strong week with three wins in four games in Arizona andthen a solid weekend series in Oakland. Phils will be back home thisweek with three against the Braves and then a weekend set with the Mets.NBA—NikolaJokic and the Nuggets win their first ever NBA Title.NHL—Vegas Golden Knightswin the Stanley Cup.
